New York J and M Trains Rerouted Again This Weekend: Manhattan-Bound Riders Shift to Free Shuttle Buses Oct. 24-25

Over the weekend of October 24-25, 2026, New York City's J and M subway lines are being rerouted again, with Manhattan-bound riders shifted to free shuttle buses. It is the second of five reroute weekends this fall.
The work replaces track-switching equipment near the Marcy Avenue station in Brooklyn — switches last replaced in 1997 — which the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) says is essential to keeping the system running. During the reroute, J trains run only between Jamaica Center in Queens and Myrtle Avenue-Broadway in Brooklyn, with no through service to Manhattan; shuttle buses run between Myrtle Avenue-Broadway and Delancey Street-Essex Street in Manhattan. M trains run in segments about every 20 minutes, and four Brooklyn stations — Flushing Avenue, Lorimer Street, Hewes Street and Marcy Avenue — have no train service this weekend. The MTA advises riders to use the L train and other lines to reach Manhattan.
The remaining three reroute weekends are November 7-9, November 13-16 and November 20-23.
