On October 24, 2026, Carolina Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky announced that the team has assigned forward Felix Unger Sörum to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The 21-year-old forward has played three games for the Hurricanes this season and four games for the Wolves, recording one assist. Born in Trondheim, Norway, Unger Sörum was drafted by Carolina in the second round, 62nd overall, in 2023, and made his NHL debut on April 14, 2026, recording his first career assist. In the 2025-26 season he posted 66 points in 72 regular-season games for the Wolves — 17 goals and a team-leading 49 assists — and helped the team reach the 2026 Calder Cup Final, contributing 12 points in 14 playoff games. He has 87 points in 137 career AHL games and has represented Sweden at the 2023 U18 World Championship and the 2024 and 2025 U20 World Championships.

The assignment is a routine move to give the young player more ice time to continue his development.
