Michigan In-Person Early Voting Starts Oct. 24 and Runs Through Nov. 1

Saturday, October 24, 2026 · States · GSM News

In-person early voting for Michigan's 2026 midterm election officially began on Saturday, Oct. 24, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 1, the Sunday before Election Day. Under a state constitutional amendment adopted in 2022, Michigan voters have the right to vote early in person before statewide and federal elections, with the early voting period running from the second Saturday before the election through the Sunday before it. Voters may go to an early voting site serving their community and vote after check-in, in a process similar to an Election Day polling place; however, early voting site locations may differ from a voter's Election Day precinct, and locations can be found through the Michigan Voter Information Center on the Secretary of State's website. Voters who have requested absentee ballots may still return them by mail, to their clerk's office or to a drop box; the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot was 15 days before the election, Oct. 19. Voters not registered by Oct. 20 may register only in person at their local clerk's office. Michigan's midterm Election Day is Nov. 3, and the start of early voting is widely seen as the beginning of the campaign's final two weeks.
