Minnesota Holds National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Today: Drop-Offs From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, October 24, 2026 · States · GSM News

Saturday, Oct. 24, is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, hosted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and collection sites across Minnesota are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for residents to safely turn in unused and expired prescription drugs. Organizers say the program aims to prevent drug abuse, accidental poisoning and diversion; accepted items include pills, capsules, patches and sealed liquids, while needles and syringes are not accepted. Residents can find their nearest collection site at DEATakeBack.com. The twice-yearly event is one of the main channels through which states and the federal government deal with medications stockpiled in homes. Collection at the sites is anonymous, and no questions are asked about the source of the medications turned in.
