In-person early voting for New Jersey's 2026 midterm election began at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 1. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday; no appointment is needed, and voters must go to a designated early voting site in their county, which may differ from their Election Day polling place. NorthJersey.com reported Oct. 24 that 741,924 ballots were cast during last year's in-person early voting period, with more than 230,000 of them on the final weekend; the 2024 presidential election set the record at 1,172,842. Counties vary in the number of early voting sites: Bergen County has 10, Essex County 11, Morris County 8, Passaic County 10 and Sussex County 3; addresses are available on the state Division of Elections website. Voters who received a mail-in ballot but choose to vote in person at a polling place can cast only a provisional ballot, as the electronic poll book will show they were issued a ballot; provisional ballots are counted after voter eligibility is verified. In-person early voting has been in place in New Jersey since 2021, and this is the second midterm election in which the state has used it.
