On October 24, Colorado high school softball history was made: the Windsor High School girls' team beat Holy Family 6-2 in the Class 4A state final at Aurora Sports Park to win the state championship with a perfect 29-0 record. The win was also revenge — Holy Family had beaten Windsor in last year's final, and Windsor had lost the final the year before that as well.

Windsor ace Jenna McInnis, a senior, threw a complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out double-digit batters while shutting down a Holy Family lineup that averaged more than 10 runs a game. Windsor scored early, added two runs in the fourth to chase Holy Family's ace, and put the game away in the sixth when Gabriella Wagner homered and Shannon Nelson added a key double in a three-run inning.

Over the whole season, Windsor outscored its opponents by more than 300 runs, winning by an average of more than 11 runs per game and recording 17 shutouts. The McInnis-Nelson pitching duo allowed only 24 runs all season, the most dominant pairing in the state.
