Rep. Fulcher: Casework Has Returned $26 Million to Idaho Residents

On October 24, the office of U.S. Rep. Russ Fulcher of Idaho announced that its congressional casework has so far returned $26 million to Idaho residents. The money covers amounts owed or delayed by federal agencies — tax refunds, benefit payments and other federal funds residents were entitled to — recovered after the office intervened with the agencies on residents' behalf.
The office said casework is an important part of a House member's daily work: many residents run into complex procedures and slow progress when dealing with federal agencies, and the office can inquire, follow up and press for resolution. Recent requests have spanned many areas, from family tax refunds to veterans' benefits and small businesses' transactions with federal agencies.
The office emphasized that the $26 million is not an appropriation or new spending, but money that belonged to residents and reached them through casework follow-up. Fulcher's office said it will continue providing casework assistance and encourages residents facing problems with federal agencies to contact the office for help.
