On October 24, the Missouri State High School Activities Association state softball quarterfinals were played across the state, with teams in every class fighting for spots in next week's state semifinals and finals.
In the most competitive class, Class 5, all four quarterfinals were decided: Eureka routed Jackson 14-0, Troy Buchanan beat Francis Howell 3-1, Lee's Summit edged Nixa 10-9, and Liberty defeated Blue Springs South 5-3, sending those four winners to the state semifinals. In Class 4, all four quarterfinals were also decided that day, with Parkway West beating Festus 6-3 among them. Quarterfinals in Classes 3, 2 and 1 were also played that afternoon, with winners advancing to next week's semifinals and finals in the state.
Missouri's high school softball season has entered its final stretch: after the district rounds, only a few steps remain before a state champion is crowned.
