Southern Miss Hosts Louisiana on Oct. 24 Homecoming, Chasing First FBS Win of Season
At 4 p.m. Central Time on October 24, homecoming weekend arrived in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles hosted Louisiana at M.M. Roberts Stadium, with the game streamed on ESPN+. Southern Miss entered at 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the Sun Belt, still seeking its first FBS victory since November 8, 2025.
Last week the Golden Eagles lost 23-13 to Arkansas State, with the offense committing two turnovers and drawing 53 penalty yards. Louisiana arrived at 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference, a longtime opponent of Southern Miss.
Game-day weather in Hattiesburg was sunny, around 73 degrees with no rain in the forecast. Homecoming is one of Southern Miss's signature annual traditions, bringing alumni back for the game and campus events and promising a lively home atmosphere. Whether the Golden Eagles could ride the home crowd to end their skid was the game's biggest storyline.
