270 MW Solar Project Proposed in Nevada's Esmeralda County, Covering About 2,498 Acres

Saturday, October 24, 2026 · States · GSM News

According to a filing submitted to the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada on October 22, a company called Silver Camp Energy Center proposes to build a 270-megawatt solar generation project east of Goldfield in Esmeralda County, Nevada, paired with a large battery storage system. The project would occupy about 2,498 acres of land administered by the Bureau of Land Management and is currently in an early public-notice stage.

The filing discloses the project's name and approximate scale, but key details — exact land boundaries, water needs, transmission line routes and a public review schedule — remain undetermined, to be clarified in later proceedings.

Esmeralda County, in western Nevada, is sparsely populated with abundant sunshine and has become an area of interest for renewable-energy developers in recent years. The project's environmental review and permitting progress will remain a focus for local residents and environmental organizations.
