Gov. Hochul Announces $5.8 Million in State Funding for Two Western New York Community Projects

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on October 24 that the state will provide $5.8 million in capital funding for two community infrastructure projects in Western New York: restoring water flow around Isle View Park and building the Peanut Line Trail to connect the Clarence Pathways trail with the Ellicott Creek trail system. The governor's office published the decision in its newsroom that day, saying both projects are community infrastructure that will improve residents' travel and recreation options.
The park water-flow restoration targets channel silting and hydrology and is expected to improve the water environment around the park once complete; the Peanut Line Trail links two existing trails into a network for walking and cycling.
The same day, Hochul also announced that state police and local law enforcement will step up patrols over Halloween, focusing on drunk and dangerous driving. Both announcements were posted in the governor's newsroom on October 24; the money comes from the state capital budget, with construction schedules to be announced by local implementing agencies. Western New York has continued to receive state infrastructure funding in recent years, and this award continues the state's investment direction in small community projects.
