Flash Floods From Thursday Storms in Utah Floated a Car and a Storage Unit Down the Street
According to an October 24 update from The Weather Channel, thunderstorms on Thursday (October 22) triggered flash flooding in Utah. A woman leaving for work found her car floating in deep water, and video from the scene showed an entire storage unit drifting down the street — startling images. The woman said it was not the first time her home had flooded, and the water rose too fast for her to react.
The storms' heavy rain pooled into deep water in a short time, sweeping away parked vehicles and storage structures. Flash flooding is a common hazard in Utah's rainy season: dry ground cannot absorb heavy rain quickly, and low-lying roads and residential areas are especially prone to flooding.
