San Francisco Chinese-American Bicultural School Holds Open House on the Morning of October 24 for TK Through 8th Grade Families

From 10 to 11 a.m. on October 24, Bert Hsu Academy, a Chinese-American bicultural school in San Francisco, California, held an open house at 450 Connecticut Street for families interested in learning about the school. The school describes itself as the first Chinese-American bicultural school in the United States, a nonprofit, full-time, year-round private school enrolling students from TK (transitional kindergarten) through 8th grade.
The school's philosophy is to combine the strengths of Eastern and Western education: drawing on the academic rigor and discipline of Chinese tradition while also emphasizing the creativity, confidence and independence valued in American education. Beyond language, the curriculum includes 5,000 years of Chinese history, philosophy, poetry and calligraphy, so that students experience Chinese culture firsthand while learning the language.
The open house was part of the school's fall open-house series, following sessions on September 12, September 26 and October 10, with October 24 the final one of this round. The school also hosts visits by appointment every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon. Families may contact the school at [email protected] to arrange another time. The school notes that parking is available at the open-house location and advises parents to plan their route in advance.
