Buttigieg to Campaign Oct. 26 for Indian American Candidate Dandiya in Florida's 22nd District

On Oct. 24, according to a report by Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) citing Florida Politics, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will travel to Florida on Monday, Oct. 26, to campaign for Pia Dandiya, the Democratic candidate and Indian American running in the 22nd Congressional District, and the two will attend a canvass launch event together in Plantation. Dandiya said she was honored to have Buttigieg join her and that she wants to earn the trust of voters of all backgrounds in South Florida in the final stretch. On the same day, she will also travel to Naples, her third visit to Collier County.

The 22nd District is one of Florida's most closely watched House districts: after the state legislature redrew it this spring, registered Republican voters hold an advantage of about 38,500, incumbent Democratic Rep. Louise Frankel did not seek re-election, and within the new boundaries about 55% of voters supported Trump in 2024. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report has changed its rating for the district from Lean Republican to Toss Up; the most recent public poll, from late August, showed Dandiya ahead by 2 percentage points. Dandiya has been named to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Red to Blue list of priority candidates. Florida's mandatory early voting period runs from Oct. 24 to 31, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
