Montana State Rallies Past Weber State 38-33 at Home on October 24, Using a Second-Half Surge to Stay Atop the Big Sky

On October 24, the third-ranked Montana State University Bobcats rallied to beat the 22nd-ranked Weber State University Wildcats 38-33 at Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman, holding onto first place in the Big Sky Conference.
Montana State trailed 17-27 in the first half before the momentum turned at the start of the second half: Weber State mishandled a kickoff, Zach Kruse recovered the fumble, and Justin Lamson then threw a 12-yard touchdown to cut the score to 24-27; early in the fourth quarter, tight end Rocky Lonergan scored on a 1-yard run to put the Bobcats ahead 31-27; shortly before the end, Adam Jones scored on a 27-yard run to lock in a 38-27 lead, and although Weber State added a late touchdown, it was not enough to come back.
The win improved Montana State’s Big Sky home record under head coach Brent Vigen to 22-0, with its season record moving to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference; Weber State fell to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Bobcats’ defensive pressure in the second half was key to the comeback, forcing multiple mistakes by Weber State freshman quarterback Nate Dahl.
