Epic Games Store Gives Away Two Horror Games Free Until October 29, With Sorry We're Closed Next
This week's free games on the Epic Games Store are live: the co-op shooter Sker Ritual and the pixel-art horror adventure Home - A Unique Horror Adventure can both be claimed free until October 29. Epic rotates its weekly giveaways every Thursday, and any game claimed during its window stays in the player's library permanently.
Sker Ritual, developed by Wales Interactive in the United Kingdom, is a spin-off of the studio's stealth horror title Maid of Sker. It switches the formula to round-based co-op shooting: one to four players fend off waves of the Quiet Ones on Sker Island in 1914, The game's Sker Island is modeled on Sker House, the historic house on the Welsh coast; players are armed with steampunk rifles and powers drawn from Celtic gods. The game normally sells for $24.99. Home, by Benjamin Rivers, is a short pixel-art horror story in which the protagonist wakes during a storm in a house that is not his own, and the narrative quietly shifts depending on what the player examines and how the clues are read. It normally sells for $4.99. Both titles are horror games, landing in the week before Halloween.
Epic has also confirmed next week's giveaway: the story-driven survival horror game Sorry We're Closed becomes free on October 29 and stays claimable until November 5, as the sole title in the Epic Games Store's final weekly giveaway of October. Developed by the UK studio à la mode games and released in November 2024, it mixes fixed-camera exploration with arcade-style first-person shooting, as its protagonist Michelle uses her Third Eye to see between worlds, uncover secrets and solve puzzles. On the review aggregator OpenCritic, the game holds a "Strong" rating with an average score of 82 across 52 reviews and an 86% recommendation rate.
According to Game Rant's October 24 report, both of this week's free titles and next week's Sorry We're Closed have been formally confirmed by the Epic Games Store. Players who want them can open the Epic Games Store app or web storefront before the October 29 rotation and add Sker Ritual and Home to their accounts.
