Awards Gala of the 4th International Chinese Original IP Film Festival Set for Oct. 31 at UCLA: Centennial Tribute to Lisa Lu and Premiere of Leaving a Trace
The Awards Gala of the 4th International Chinese Original IP Film Festival will be held on the evening of October 31, 2026, at the James Bridges Theater at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Built around "A Centennial Tribute to Lisa Lu," the gala will also host the premiere of the film Leaving a Trace, with writer, screenwriter and producer Song Jia appearing as special guest.
The festival is organized by the Dragon Tales Foundation and co-organized by the UCLA Center for Chinese Studies. Now in its fourth year under the theme "Original Stories, A Shared Tomorrow," it promotes original Chinese-language stories and IP development. The organizing committee includes chief advisor Anna Shaoai Chi, chief planner Sunny Zhang, festival chair Donald Martin, jury chair Peggy Chiao, jury vice chair Mary Cao and festival vice chair Michael Berry.
Born in Shanghai in 1927, Lisa Lu is a Chinese American actress whose career has spanned both sides of the Pacific for more than six decades. A three-time Golden Horse Award winner, her signature films include The Mountain Road, The Last Emperor and The Joy Luck Club. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025, a lifetime achievement award at the Shanghai International Film Festival this June, and induction into the Asian Hall of Fame's class of 2026. The gala's main poster threads a film strip through images of her decades on screen.
Leaving a Trace will premiere at the gala, on the same evening as the centennial tribute to Lu.
