Georgia Early Votes Top 1.75 Million as Atlanta City Turnout Reaches 25.7%

Ballot records released by the Georgia Secretary of State's office on October 25 show that as of October 24, the state had accepted 1,751,149 early ballots, or 21.3 percent of its 8,223,613 registered voters, 6.7 percent more than at the same point in the 2022 midterms. Analysts expect another 28,600 to 35,800 ballots on Sunday, October 25, bringing the cumulative total to roughly 1.78 million to 1.79 million by Sunday night. In the city of Atlanta, 95,577 ballots had been accepted as of October 24, about 25.7 percent of its 372,300 active voters.
Early voting runs through Friday, October 30, with Election Day on Tuesday, November 3. Analysts note that the final five days of early voting in 2022 produced 839,641 ballots, a third of that year's early-voting total, so the trend in the final week will determine the ultimate scale of this year's early vote. Georgia will elect a governor, a U.S. senator and other key offices this year, and with the races tight, turnout has become a focus of attention for all sides.
