Philadelphia's Chinese Voters Prepare for Election: Chinese Ballot Materials and In-Person Help in Place

With fewer than 10 days to go before the November 3 election, Philadelphia's Chinese community is in the final stage of voting preparations. According to an Asian voter guide, Philadelphia provides Chinese-language ballot materials and in-person assistance for Chinese voters, and Pennsylvania has also published an official Chinese-language voter information page to help voters unfamiliar with English-language election procedures understand the voting rules. The guide also reminds voters that they may bring an assistant of their own choosing into the polling place, but that person cannot be their employer or a union representative.
The arrangement is especially important for senior voters in Philadelphia's Chinatown and surrounding Chinese neighborhoods, many of whom are more comfortable reading ballot instructions in Chinese. The 2026 election will choose all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, 33 Senate seats, and a range of state and local offices, and Chinese voter turnout will directly affect several closely contested races in Pennsylvania.
Community organizations are urging voters who have not yet voted to confirm their polling place and ballot in advance, to ask poll workers for help if they face language barriers, and not to wait until Election Day. Meanwhile, early in-person voting in New York City and New Jersey began on October 24, and Philadelphia's Chinese voters with relatives or friends in those places can remind them to note the early voting hours.
