San Diego Toreros Force 20 Turnovers in 73-58 Exhibition Win Over Colorado State

Sunday, October 25, 2026 · City · GSM News

On October 25, the University of San Diego Toreros men's basketball team beat Colorado State 73-58 in an exhibition game, opening their preseason with a win. The Toreros controlled the game from the start with pressure defense, forcing 20 turnovers and scoring 20 points off them, while committing only five turnovers themselves. Jevon Hill led the team with 18 points, hitting five of 10 three-pointers, helping build a lead of as many as 21 points; San Diego never trailed. Colorado State shot just 6 of 30 from beyond the arc and could not close the gap.

It was San Diego's first exhibition of the new season, and the defensive intensity and ball security were the biggest takeaways. Next, the Toreros play their final exhibition on Tuesday, October 27, against No. 22 UCLA; the regular season opens on Monday, November 2, against Biola University at Jenny Craig Pavilion. Although exhibition wins do not count in the standings, they give the coaching staff a valuable test for rotations and tactics ahead of the regular season, and help settle the starting lineup and rotation.
