On October 25, the New Haven Museum in Connecticut will host its second Mid-Autumn Festival and Diwali celebration, open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with admission included in the museum ticket. Co-hosted by the museum and the Asian Pacific American Coalition of Connecticut, the event begins at 1 p.m. with two hours of Hong Kong-style mahjong lessons and open play led by a mahjong enthusiasts' group, with beginners welcome. At 3:15 p.m., Rangeela, Yale University's first undergraduate Bollywood fusion dance troupe, will perform a program blending Indian classical dance, regional folk dance and Western pop elements, and will hold a hands-on workshop. The Mid-Autumn Festival signifies harvest gratitude and reunion, while Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness; organizers hope the celebration will let residents of different backgrounds share in the joy of Asian festivals in a single afternoon.
