51st Marine Corps Marathon Starts in Arlington on Oct. 25
On October 25, the 51st Marine Corps Marathon will start in Arlington County, Virginia; the course begins in Arlington, passes through Washington, D.C., and returns to Arlington, finishing at the Marine Corps War Memorial. Founded in 1976 and known as 'The People's Marathon,' the race offers no prize money and no lottery, and is open to runners aged 14 and up; about 40,000 finished in 2025, making it the third-largest marathon in the United States. Organized by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization, it aims to promote fitness, strengthen military-civilian ties and showcase the Marine Corps' organizational ability, while raising funds for many charities.
