Youth Group Rallies in Las Cruces on Oct. 25 Against Hyperscale Data Center Expansion

Sunday, October 25, 2026 · States · GSM News

On October 25, the youth group Youth United for Climate Action (YUCCA) will rally at the Corbett Center at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces at 1:30 p.m., with about 40 to 50 people expected and the rally lasting about an hour. The rally aims to show statewide opposition to hyperscale SI data center development; residents of Santa Teresa will speak — the community where the $165 billion 'Project Jupiter' data center campus is being built. Organizers hope to raise awareness among Doña Ana County residents of data centers' environmental impacts and to pressure state lawmakers to introduce a motion in the 2027 legislative session to pause new large data center projects, so the state can first build a regulatory framework and weigh the pros and cons.
