Boston's Charles River Esplanade Fall Fest on October 25: A 5K Run and a Pet Pumpkin Parade

On October 25, the Esplanade Association held its Fall Fest run and walk in Boston to raise funds for the Charles River Esplanade, one of the city's best-loved waterfront parks. Registration and a vendor fair opened at 8 a.m.; the 5K started at 9 a.m., rain or shine; 5K awards followed at 9:40 a.m. This year's new Paws & Pumpkins Parade gathered at 9:50 a.m., with dogs in festive costumes competing for awards announced at 10:30 a.m.; the 1.5-mile community walk set off at 10:15 a.m., welcoming families and their dogs. This year's site was Fiedler Field, beside the lagoon across from the Night Shift Beer Garden, a change from previous years. Registration was limited, and proceeds support the association's free programs and year-round care of the park. The 5K was professionally timed, while the walk was untimed and participation-focused; the fair also featured local community partners and seasonal food.
