West Seattle Harvest Festival on October 25: Costume Parade, Chili Cook-Off and Pie-Eating Contest

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 25, the West Seattle Junction business district held its annual Harvest Festival, alongside the West Seattle Farmers Market. A costume parade opened the festival, followed by merchant trick-or-treating that families could join shop by shop. The program also featured the West Seattle Food Bank chili cook-off, with local chefs and home cooks competing, a pie-eating contest, and a street performance by the Seattle Thrillers dance group. The Harvest Festival is the neighborhood's signature fall event; after a year of turnover among Junction storefronts, organizers hoped the festival would bring neighbors back together. It made for a Sunday morning outing for families to stroll the market and take in the neighborhood's holiday spirit, and the organizers posted the full day's schedule for families to plan ahead.
