Sunday, October 25, 2026 · City · GSM News

On October 25, the second annual Resilience Arts Festival, hosted by the Mud Theatre Project, reached its closing day at 1160 East 55th Street in Chicago, with free or pay-what-you-can admission. Running since October 22, the festival presented original work by playwrights, performers, writers and artists impacted by incarceration, including poetry readings, one-person plays, documentary screenings and art-making activities. Organizers said the festival aims to present these creators' own voices and experiences. The closing day continued that theme, letting audiences see different forms of original expression in one space and talk with the creators. The festival accepted donations of all sizes, with all proceeds supporting the project's future programming. For Chicagoans, it was a free weekend chance to step into a community theater and engage with justice issues through art.
