Austin Holds StrawFest on October 25: Free Pumpkin Painting and Animal Shows at the Umlauf

Sunday, October 25, 2026 · City · GSM News

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 25, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum in Austin, Texas, held its annual StrawFest, free and open to everyone. One of the museum's best-loved traditions, StrawFest has grown from a small seasonal gathering into one of Central Texas's most anticipated family events; this year's program included pumpkin painting, art-making, a costume parade and live demonstrations by local conservation groups, with participating organizations including the WILDcenter of Texas, the Austin Bat Refuge, the Central Texas Pig Rescue and La Petite Provence. The day also offered caricature drawings, face painting, a character show, a raptors and reptiles show, inflatable games, a photo booth, yard games and a magician, for families of all ages. The museum is at 605 Azie Morton Road in Austin; visitors were encouraged to carpool or take public transit, with free parking across the street at Wright Field. Organizers said sponsors and donors make the free event possible, so that families across Austin can enjoy arts programming together regardless of means.
