Detroit Red Wings Fall 4-1 to the Calgary Flames: Six-Game Point Streak Ends as Special Teams Falter Twice

Sunday, October 25, 2026 · City · GSM News

On the night of October 24, the Detroit Red Wings lost 4-1 on the road to the Calgary Flames, ending their six-game point streak and taking their first regulation loss in 15 days. Joel Farabee opened the scoring with 2:10 left in the first period; Andrew Copp equalized for Detroit, but Calgary locked up the win with two special-teams goals. Red Wings goaltender John Gibson made 21 saves, while Detroit went scoreless on two power plays and two penalty kills; Flames goaltender Devin Cooley made 28 saves for his third win. Head coach Todd McLellan said afterward it was one of the team's poorest nights of execution recently, with passes repeatedly missing and small mistakes piling up. Copp admitted the team never really took control of the game's rhythm, with small errors breaking up every spell of momentum. Detroit stands at 4-4-3 with 11 points and Calgary at 4-6-0 with 8 points; it was Calgary's first win over Detroit since March 12, 2022. The Red Wings finish their road trip in Edmonton looking to salvage the finale.
