Tampa Bay's Kucherov Passes Stamkos to Become the Lightning's All-Time Points Leader
On October 25, Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov officially passed former teammate Steven Stamkos to become the franchise's all-time points leader. Stamkos spent 16 seasons in Tampa Bay and left as the face of the franchise with a team-record 1,137 points, 555 goals and 582 assists. Kucherov's record-breaking point came on an assist on Brayden Point's power-play goal, a moment the league's official account shared in congratulation. A central figure in Tampa Bay's success for more than a decade, Kucherov combines elite vision, playmaking and scoring touch, and has won two league most valuable player awards and three scoring titles. Stamkos was known for his goal scoring and leadership, while Kucherov creates offense for himself and his teammates alike; passing his former teammate reflects the consistency of his entire career. Lightning fans have watched two generations of franchise cornerstones hand over the mantle, and Kucherov's ascent to the top of the team's points list adds a milestone chapter to the season.
