Alaska Voters and Rights Groups Move to Dismiss DOJ Election Lawsuit, Citing Political Pressure and No Legal Basis

Alaska voters and voting-rights groups have filed a motion asking a court to dismiss a U.S. Justice Department lawsuit over Alaska's U.S. Senate election and to sanction the government attorneys behind it, according to news disclosed on October 25. The movants argue the suit lacks any basis in the National Voter Registration Act and call it frivolous and unsupported.
The movants also cite the president's own public remark admitting he ordered the suit, as evidence that the litigation is politically pressured. Whether the court grants the dismissal motion will directly shape the course of the election lawsuit.
