New Jersey Devils Land Three-Time Vezina Winner Hellebuyck from Winnipeg, Then Beat Kings 3-1 at Home
The New Jersey Devils made a blockbuster move on October 23, acquiring three-time Vezina Trophy goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets. The price: forwards Dawson Mercer and Nick Bjugstad, goaltender Nico Daws, the signing rights to unsigned forward Alexander Command, a 2029 second-round pick, and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
In his first home game with the team on October 24, the Devils beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-1, winning all three home games so far this season. Jack Hughes, who won 2026 Olympic gold alongside Hellebuyck, praised the new goaltender as intensely focused. The Devils' next stop is October 27 at Dallas.
