Arkansas edges No. 15 Gonzaga 76-72 in exhibition behind an 18-0 run across halftime

In a college men's basketball exhibition played in Fayetteville on the night of October 24, the University of Arkansas Razorbacks beat No. 15 Gonzaga 76-72, a result confirmed in media reports on October 25. Late in the first half, Gonzaga used a 10-1 run to lead 36-26 and threatened to take control, but Arkansas answered with a 9-0 run to close the half and another 9-0 run to open the second — an 18-0 surge that flipped the game. A three-pointer by Abdou Toure started the comeback, and Davion Thompson's layup 15 seconds into the second half put Arkansas ahead. The Razorbacks led by as many as eight, and Thompson's late step-back three pushed the margin to five in the closing moments. Billy Richmond III led Arkansas with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists; JJ Andrews added 10 points and nine rebounds, and Thompson scored 12. The win came at a cost: Jordan Smith Jr., Mika Murin and Cooper Bowser all went down with injuries in the second half. The exhibition does not count in the regular-season standings, but it was a high-value test for a young Arkansas team.
