Alhambra holds 13th Pumpkin Run and Halloween Festival on October 25 to benefit the education foundation

On October 25, the City of Alhambra, California, held its 13th Pumpkin Run and Halloween Festival on Main Street downtown, running from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Announced by the Alhambra Unified School District, the event benefits the Alhambra Educational Foundation. The day opened with a 7:30 a.m. ceremony, followed by the 10K at 7:45 and the 5K at 8:00, plus a kids' fun run and a 1K for ages 6 to 10; the Alhambra Certified Farmers Market was open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A children's costume contest took the main stage at 11:30 a.m., with live bands, dance performances, face painting and a kids' zone, and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. children could trick-or-treat at Main Street businesses. Located in the San Gabriel Valley, Alhambra is home to a large Chinese-American community, and many Chinese families joined the district-led event. For residents, the Pumpkin Run is at once a fall fitness outing, a school fundraiser and a neighborhood gathering, and Main Street shops saw a welcome flow of visitors. Organizers noted that some times could shift and asked participants to follow on-site announcements.
