On October 25, a delegation led by the Louisiana Office of Tourism departed for France and Italy, traveling October 25-29 with stops in Paris and Lyon before closing in Milan. The mission aims to present Louisiana directly as a travel destination to influential European travel writers, agencies and tour operators, showcasing the state's culture, cuisine and history, and to win future European visitors for the state's tourism industry through face-to-face meetings and sales calls. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser said France and Italy are among Louisiana's most enthusiastic international source markets, whose visitors genuinely appreciate the state's rich history, world-class music and legendary food, and that staying active in these key European markets helps keep Louisiana a top choice for travelers. Traveling partners include representatives of the Acadia Parish convention and visitors commission, Lafayette Travel, Louisiana Cajun Bayou, New Orleans & Company, the St. Landry Parish tourist commission, the St. Martin Parish tourism office and Visit Baton Rouge, among others.
