Stories of Rhode Island Aviation Hall of Fame's seven-member class of 2026 published October 25

On October 25, The Providence Journal published the stories of the seven new inductees of the Rhode Island Aviation Hall of Fame's class of 2026, whose military careers span from World War II to the Iraq War. The guest of honor is Rear Adm. Darryl Walker, president of the U.S. Naval War College. The seven include Maj. Gen. Andrew Chevalier, the 45th adjutant general of Rhode Island, and Lt. j.g. Victor Gadrow of Peace Dale, who was killed on December 22, 1941, when his fighter's engine failed during a mission supporting Wake Island — South Kingstown's first loss of the Second World War. Retired Army Capt. John 'Captain Jack' Keenan logged more than 19,000 flight hours, including 920 combat hours in Vietnam; retired Cmdr. Frederick Lakeway trained at Lockheed's Skunk Works to fly the top-secret Q-Star powered glider; retired Chief Warrant Officer Steven Moy flew 928 combat hours in Vietnam and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and 21 Air Medals; and retired Col. Ernest Oliveira flew 200 combat missions over Vietnam as a B-52 navigator. The induction dinner is set for the evening of November 21 in Cranston, with tickets at $70.
