Virginia opens Sunday early voting statewide on October 25, nine days before Election Day

Sunday, October 25, 2026 · States · GSM News

On Sunday, October 25, early voting sites across Virginia opened to voters — one of the new weekend voting days added for the 2026 general election. The Virginia Department of Elections had announced that in-person early voting runs from September 18 through October 31, with weekend days on October 18, 24, 25 and 31, the Sunday sessions being new this year. Voters need no excuse to vote early; they go to their local registrar's office or a designated satellite site and must show acceptable identification, or sign an identity confirmation statement if they have none. On Election Day, November 3, polls statewide are open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and voters in line when polls close may still vote. Virginia voters will also decide three state constitutional amendments this year, concerning same-sex marriage, restoration of voting rights after felony sentences, and reproductive rights; voters can check their registration status and polling place on the Department of Elections website.
