Sunday, October 25, 2026 · States · GSM News

Leah Davidson, state treasurer of the North Dakota FFA Association, represented North Dakota in several roles at the National FFA Convention and was named a finalist for a national proficiency award.

According to an October 25 report by the Red River Farm Network, Davidson, a member of the Golden Valley County FFA chapter, is a national proficiency award finalist in the Agricultural Processing and Entrepreneurship category. She also served as a delegate to the national convention and competed in the floriculture event there. Davidson said her supervised agricultural experience began as a hobby and grew into a project that taught her business skills, and that the most valuable skill she gained was keeping detailed journals and tracking all records.

FFA proficiency awards recognize student achievement in agricultural experience projects, and reaching the national finals is a notable accomplishment. Davidson's experience also reflects the character of agricultural youth education in North Dakota: starting from personal interest and learning bookkeeping, management and project skills through hands-on practice, laying a foundation for future work in agriculture and related industries.
