Follow-up: UCF Stuns No. 2 BYU 39-31 in Double Overtime, Ending the Cougars' Unbeaten Season

Results released on October 25 showed that Utah's No. 2 Brigham Young University lost 39-31 in double overtime on the road in Orlando on October 24 to the University of Central Florida, suffering its first defeat of the season and falling to 6-1. It was the first win over a top-five opponent in UCF program history. Late in regulation, BYU first made a key stand at its own 1-yard line and then blocked a 47-yard UCF field goal to force overtime. The teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime. In the second, UCF took the lead with a field goal, but a BYU defensive player was flagged for roughing the kicker, giving the Knights a fresh set of downs. UCF quarterback Keon Jenkins then found Grayson Bruss on a 4-yard touchdown pass and converted the two-point try to seal the 39-31 win. BYU's final fourth-down pass fell incomplete. Jenkins finished 25 of 41 for 293 yards with three touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown. BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score but was also intercepted once. The loss clouds BYU's national championship outlook; the Cougars next host Arizona State on October 31.
