Clarkson Tops Vermont 2-1 in Overtime in Men's Ice Hockey

Sunday, October 25, 2026 · States · GSM News

On October 25, Clarkson University's men's ice hockey team beat the University of Vermont 2-1 in overtime, evening the teams' home-and-home series. Talon Sigurdson scored the game-winner 2:30 into overtime. Vermont's Ethan Burroughs had tied the game late in the third period to force the extra session. Vermont challenged the winning goal for goaltender interference, but the call on the ice stood. Clarkson goaltender Ben Gaudreau stopped a breakaway in overtime, one of the game's decisive moments. Vermont's penalty kill has been perfect this season, killing all 11 penalties without allowing a power-play goal, and each of the Catamounts' last four games has been decided by a single goal. Clarkson outshot Vermont 6-5 in the first period; Vermont fired 16 shots in the second and carried the play but could not turn it into a win. Vermont returns home next to face the University of New Hampshire in two Hockey East games, at 7 p.m. on October 30 and 4 p.m. on October 31, both streaming on ESPN+.
