Follow-Up: Joel Embiid Records 10th Career Triple-Double as 76ers Beat Bucks 127-116 to Open 3-0

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Milwaukee Bucks 127-116 at Xfinity Mobile Arena on October 24, as Joel Embiid finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the 10th triple-double of his career. Philadelphia improved to 3-0 on the young season, while Milwaukee fell to 0-3. The 76ers rested LeBron James, who sat out with back and sciatica issues.
Jaylen Brown scored 27 points on his 30th birthday, Tyrese Maxey added 26 points, and rookie VJ Edgecombe made five 3-pointers as part of a 17-point, 13-rebound performance; Philadelphia shot 19 of 44 from three-point range (43 percent). Milwaukee placed eight players in double figures, led by Jaime Jaquez Jr. with 21 points and Kel'el Ware with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
The 76ers led 34-25 after the first quarter and 64-60 at halftime. The teams were tied 82-82 with four minutes left in the third quarter before Philadelphia closed the period on a 15-5 run, capped by a Maxey fadeaway, to lead 97-87. An Embiid jumper pushed the margin to 113-98 with about six minutes left, but the Bucks rallied to within 117-114. Edgecombe then came up with a key offensive rebound that led to a Brown 3-pointer, and Brown found Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for another 3-pointer on the next possession to seal the win.
Forward Jabari Walker left the game in the third quarter with a left knee tweak and did not return, head coach Nick Nurse said after the game, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia. The 76ers host the Detroit Pistons on October 25; James is expected to play in that game, while Embiid will rest on the second night of the back-to-back, according to Reuters.
