Eric Bauza, the Emmy Award-winning voice actor who became the modern voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and dozens of other Looney Tunes characters, has died suddenly at 46. His family announced his death in a statement posted to his Instagram account on Sunday night, October 25; Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records list the cause of death as hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

"Eric Bauza, Emmy Award-winning voice actor and the modern voice of iconic Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, along with dozens of other beloved cartoon characters, has passed away suddenly. More details to come," the family statement read. Tributes poured in from the animation community: director Jorge Gutierrez called him "a generational talent" who "just made everything he worked on better," and fellow voice actor Carlos Alazraqui wrote, "I am in shock. This doesn't feel real." On October 24, Bauza had reposted a Looney Tunes clip tied to the 30th anniversary of Space Jam — his last public post.

Born in Toronto on December 7, 1979, to Filipino parents, Bauza debuted in The Ripping Friends in 2001 and broke through voicing Stimpy in the 2003 Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon," amassing more than 400 credits over 25 years. He became best known as the voice of a generation of Looney Tunes: beginning with Marvin the Martian in 2011, he went on to voice Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam and more — leading many to call him the most complete Looney Tunes voice since Mel Blanc.

Bauza won three Children's & Family Emmy Awards, for Looney Tunes Cartoons, Bugs Bunny Builders and Teen Titans Go! His film work included Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021), The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (2024), in which he played both Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, and this year's Coyote vs. Acme, in which he voiced multiple roles. He also voiced Puss in Boots in the DreamWorks animated series, Splinter in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Fozzie Bear in Muppet Babies.
