AMBER Alert: 6-Year-Old Orange County Boy Believed Taken by Grandfather; Blue 1995 GMC Sonoma Sought
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) activated an AMBER Alert early on October 26 at the request of the Westminster Police Department: Joseph Garcia, 6, was last seen at about 4 p.m. on October 25 in the city of Orange, Orange County, California, and is believed to have been taken by his grandfather, Frank Ramirez, 47. The alert covers Riverside, San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange counties. Anyone who sees the child, the suspect or the vehicle is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
Joseph Garcia is 6 years old, 3 feet 7 inches tall and 65 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a beige shirt, blue shorts and black shoes, near the intersection of W. Collins Ave. and N. Lemon St. in Orange.
Police say the child was taken by his grandfather, Frank Ramirez, 47, who is 5 feet 6 inches tall and 180 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes, wearing a gray tank top and shorts.
Ramirez is driving a blue 1995 GMC Sonoma pickup with California license plate 5B30127. Police are asking residents across the four counties to watch for the truck and its plate.
The alert was activated by the CHP on behalf of the Westminster Police Department, published through CHP channels at about 3 a.m. on October 26, and pushed to residents in the four counties as a wireless emergency alert. The case remains under investigation, and police have not released further details.
