Houston Early Voting Continues on October 26: Harris County Voters Can Check Their Sample Ballot Before Voting

Monday, October 26, 2026 · City · GSM News

Early voting in Harris County, where Houston is located, continued on Monday, October 26; the early voting period began on Monday, October 19 and runs through October 30, and October 26 is the first weekday of the second week of early voting. Houston City Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas reminded voters in her community newsletter on October 16 that Harris County's ballot this year is very long, and urged voters, before heading to a voting site, to take time to learn the candidates' and issues' positions rather than deciding hastily on the spot. The newsletter advised voters to view their sample ballot in advance at HarrisVotes.org, confirm their voting location, and bring valid identification, and suggested nonpartisan resources such as voter guides from the League of Women Voters as supplementary material for learning about the races. Thomas also mentioned that her district is one of those with the lowest turnout in the city, and said she hopes voters will take voting seriously and encourage those around them to take part as well. The advantage of early voting is flexibility: voters can avoid Election Day lines, and if a problem such as a ballot signature issue arises, there is more time to contact election officials to correct it. For Houston voters who are free on October 26, checking the sample ballot and bringing proper identification before heading out is the most reliable way to vote; Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
