Austin Mosaic Festival Opens October 26: Free Through October 31, Artists from Around the World Together

Monday, October 26, 2026 · City · GSM News

The Austin Mosaic Festival opened on Monday, October 26 and will run through October 31, open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mosaic Workshop at 729 Airport Boulevard, free to attend throughout. This is the third mosaic festival held by the studio; the weeklong event brings together artists from around the world, including Koko Mosaico from Italy, Jeff Barrows from Brazil, and CELSO from Puerto Rico, with artist talks and special workshops during the festival. Visitors can drop in during open studio hours to make their own mosaic pieces by hand, join a collaborative creation project, or view murals created by Jeff Barrows, CELSO, J Muzacz, and the studio team; every mosaic piece comes with a free grouting kit. Whether an experienced maker or a first-time newcomer to mosaics, everyone can find a way to participate that suits them, and participants of all ages and experience levels are welcome. Mosaic art itself combines color, material, and the patience of handcrafting, making it suitable for families to do together as well as for a slow solo experience. For Austin residents, this festival opening on October 26 is a free and low-barrier cultural option, open every day for a week, so there is no regret in missing opening day.
