Early Voting Continues in Mecklenburg County on October 26: 25 Sites Open Monday Until 7:30 p.m.

Early voting in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, continued on Monday, October 26, with all 25 early voting sites across the county open Monday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. According to Charlotte local media reports, the early voting period runs from October 15 to 31, with Saturday hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday hours from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; during the early voting period, voters may cast a ballot at any site in the county rather than going to their designated Election Day polling place. Sites published by the county board of elections include the Hal Marshall Center in Uptown, the Park Expo and Conference Center in east Charlotte, the Marion Diehl Recreation Center in south Charlotte, the West Boulevard Library in west Charlotte, and the former University City Library in University City. North Carolina law requires voters to show an acceptable photo ID when voting; same-day registration is also available during the early voting period, so unregistered voters can register and vote at a voting site, and registered voters who have moved within the same county can update their name or address when they register. UNC Charlotte reminds students that the closest early voting site to campus is the former University City Library on East W.T. Harris Boulevard, and that students' physical 49er ID cards are also accepted as valid identification. October 26 is the first weekday of the final week of early voting, and county election officials expect a small voting peak during the evening commute hours.
