Minneapolis Podcast Taping on October 26: Omar Appears Alongside Piker, Drawing Intraparty Dispute

Minnesota U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar will take part in a live podcast taping in Minneapolis on Monday, October 26, appearing alongside streamer Hasan Piker and Minnesota State Senator Omar Fateh. According to the Washington Examiner, the event is hosted by Fateh and is intended to mobilize young voters ahead of Election Day; Omar's spokesperson said Omar is standing by her decision to attend. Piker previously campaigned for candidate Abdul El-Sayed during Michigan's Democratic Senate primary, and his remarks drew controversy, including accusations of antisemitic comments; Minnesota Democrats have likewise voiced displeasure at his coming to Minnesota. U.S. Representative Angie Craig, who lost the primary to Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, issued a statement calling Piker's remarks inflammatory and dangerous, saying it was a mistake for Democrats to embrace him and that she was disappointed in Minnesota Democrats for hosting the event. Minnesota news site reporting on October 22 also noted that Omar's spokesperson confirmed she would attend the October 26 event as planned, while critics argued that Piker's past remarks involved antisemitism, racism, and sexism. With the event just one week before the November 3 election, the intraparty rift it has triggered has itself become one of the topics of the campaign's final stretch.
