Washington State Online and Mail Voter Registration Deadline Is October 26: After That, In-Person Registration Only

Monday, October 26, 2026 · City · GSM News

The deadline for online and mail voter registration for Washington State's 2026 midterm elections is Monday, October 26 — a statutory milestone eight days before the November 3 Election Day; online and mail applications to register or update information must be received by this date, and after the deadline only in-person registration is available. Washington's general election voting period began on October 16 and runs for 18 days through Election Day; ballots have been mailed, voting centers are providing accessible voting equipment, and voters may vote at a voting center or deposit their ballot in an official drop box by 8 p.m. on November 3. The in-person registration deadline is 8 p.m. on November 3; voters can register in person during business hours, or complete registration and vote on Election Day itself by 8 p.m. For voters in Seattle and King County, the October 26 deadline is especially important, because after missing the online and mail channels, every remaining step requires an in-person trip and noticeably more time. Voters can check their registration status and their ballot's mailing and verification progress at VoteWA.gov, and can also subscribe to text alerts to learn promptly about issues such as signature problems that require correction. With only eight days left until Election Day, voters who have not yet registered or who have moved and not updated their address should complete registration online on October 26 itself rather than leaving it to the in-person-only stage.
