Concrete and Facade Restoration Completed at Cobb Garage in Downtown Seattle

Monday, October 26, 2026 · City · GSM News

The restoration of the Cobb Garage in downtown Seattle, King County, Washington, was recently completed. According to an announcement issued by the contractor on October 26, the Cobb Garage, at 315 Union Street in Seattle, underwent large-scale concrete repair, facade restoration and waterproofing; the project was led by the Seattle branch of Western Specialty Contractors as general contractor, for owner Unico Properties, with Evolution Architecture as consultant.

The work included concrete and crack repairs, sealant removal and replacement, cleaning and coating the facade with a silicone coating, cleaning and coating metal grates, and installing artwork anchors and rails. The project's biggest challenge was the schedule: the work had to be finished before the FIFA construction moratorium began, and with help from the owner and the City of Seattle, the team obtained the construction permit within two weeks.

The project also ran into material delays and coordination issues for artwork-installation access; workers hung three tiers of staging along the wall to keep to schedule. For the artwork installation, the team developed a dedicated template that kept about 120 feet of facade anchors and rails level and consistent, with a variance of only a quarter inch over the full length. Project manager Ryan Dalton said the project required a great deal of coordination to deliver on time.
