University of Houston Football Team Falls to No. 18 in AP Poll
The University of Houston football team in Houston, Harris County, Texas, slipped in the latest Associated Press poll. According to the campus newspaper The Daily Cougar on October 26, the Houston Cougars fell from No. 14 to No. 18 in the AP poll released October 25, and are No. 19 in the coaches poll.
Previously, Houston lost 13-21 on October 24 to No. 6 Utah, its second loss of the season. Houston is now 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the Big 12, and will next enter a bye week; its next game is on November 7 against Cincinnati.
Head coach Willie Fritz's season with the team continues to draw attention, and the team is also awaiting the first College Football Playoff rankings, to be released November 3. The campus paper noted that despite the slide, Houston still has a chance to climb again over the remaining schedule; the key is whether it can adjust after the bye week and find a winning rhythm against Cincinnati. Fans can follow the team's updates through university channels.
