Phoenix Police to Step Up Neighborhood Patrols for Halloween, Targeting DUI and Speeding to Protect Trick-or-Treaters

Monday, October 26, 2026 · City · GSM News

In Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, Phoenix police said on October 26 that they will increase neighborhood patrols during Halloween, focusing on drunk driving and speeding, as more children and families will be on the streets trick-or-treating. Police reminded drivers to arrange a sober ride in advance and to watch for pedestrians, especially children, in residential areas; on Halloween night large numbers of pedestrians take to the streets, and drivers in residential areas must be especially careful, slow down early and watch intersections and both sides of the roadway.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data show that over the six years from 2019 to 2024, a total of 201 people died nationwide in alcohol-related crashes on Halloween night. The information police released this time did not specify patrol locations or duty hours, only stressing that drivers should plan ahead and slow down.

The Valley area where Phoenix is located sees crash and DUI reports almost daily, and police hope the more visible patrols will remind drivers to pay attention to safety.
